Want to improve your website’s reach and visibility, but still find yourself struggling with search engine optimization? Stop worrying.
While SEO is important to the long-term success of your website, it’s not as intimidating as it sounds. If you’ve created a website and are trying to reach more people, add these six tricks to your business telecom arsenal.
1. Keep Titles Short And Punchy
Picture your title as a hit on Google or Yahoo page. If titles are so long the engine cuts them off before the user knows what the link is about, you’ve got problems. Think like your audience. Would your broken-in-half headline grab them? If not, spend time shortening. Usually, eight words is long enough. Before settling, tap in to your experience. What gets you to click through? Figure it out, and do the same with your headlines, without losing the message, of course.
2. Choose The Right Keywords
Most keyword aficionados advise using exact phrases once every 75-100 words. Don’t sweat the quantities. Just produce good content. The most important thing: picking the right keyword. Whatever you do, be specific! For example, for an article on taxes, “taxes” would be a horrible keyword. It’s too general. “Late tax filing tips,” however, would probably find an audience.
3. Stay Fresh And Relevant
You don’t visit websites that haven’t changed in three years. Neither will your target audience, so make sure yours is active every day or week. Stay apprised of current events (especially those relating to your site theme) and always strive to produce fresh new content.
4. Build Those Backlinks
Create the kind of content people will like and share. Think about your own experiences on social media or your favorite websites. What motivates you to action? Great content! You (and most people) could care less about keyword density and meta tags, so focus on what you can control.
5. Get Up To Speed
Eliminate cumbersome graphics and other add-ons that bring no value to your site. By putting your site’s speed and operation first, you’ll enhance the user experience. Give visitors a headache through web architecture, and you’ll kill SEO in the process. Yahoo!, Google, and others offer performance analysis tools. Use them regularly.
6. Finally, Make The Most Of Your CMS.
A content management system (CMS) like WordPress or Drupal will feature many widgets that can help improve SEO without requiring advanced training. These widgets are generally inexpensive, but can be worth it, whatever the cost!
