1. What inspires you to do what you do?
When I was in Europe 6 years ago for the first time, I was so in love with all the home deco products and style they provide, and I dreamt of having a shop of my own. That dream is still with me, still working on it to make it come true. Along the way, I figured out many things that excited me and made me continue and learn from the mistakes to be better everyday. It’s not about the end result you are after, it’s about the process of achieving it.
2. How did you get into what you’re doing?
After having my first daughter, I stayed home to take care of her for a year. After that break year, I wanted to come back to work in the media industry. Despite my 5 years of experience, I couldn’t find anything suitable and long term. Desperate to release the energy and ideas in my mind, I started Gezel Home Accessories, by design and produce products like cushions, baskets, photo frames from Vietnam, collecting products from Europe, etc. I also do B2B, working with local business to provide production service with garments like children clothing, adult clothing and cushion production.
From there I co-founded Chillax Market with a friend of mine. It is a lifestyle market where we recruit unique vendors selling mid to high end products. We have been doing the markets 6 times since March 2013, and they are all very successful. You can find more info here.
3. How do you keep yourself motivated?
My mother was working very hard all her life to achieve what she wants. Before she could enjoy her achievements, she had brain haemorrhage and passed away after 5 days in coma at the beginning of 2012. It was a shock for me, and it made me realise that life is so short, you can be gone the next day, so you need to live your day to the fullest, fulfil your dream before it is too late. This has stayed with me since then.

5. Who are the 2 most important people in your life and why?
My husband and my mother are the most important people in my life. My mother gave me strength and energy to do what I am doing today and I want her to be proud of me from the other world (if there is any). My husband is the best support I have ever had, he may think different than me but he always has good intention at heart, an ear for me to vent all my frustration/happiness from works and daily life.
6. What’s been the most difficult challenge for you in work and how did you overcome it?
I didn’t see any challenge before I had my first daughter. Work was “everything is possible”, then my first daughter came along and I started thinking about what my priorities were, but I was still able to handle full time work and family. Now that my second daughter is here (she was born 4 months ago), I say “NOT everything is possible anymore, you need to put your family FIRST before everything else”. So my challenge now is how to handle a great amount of work and still have time for my family.
7. iPhone or Android? Notebook or Digital?
I love my iPhone, but still need my notebook because I believe that you still need to go back to the tradition way of writing, that’s where you will remember the most 5 years down the line. My daughter plays with my notebook sometimes so when I am with a client and I turn a page and see her drawings, it makes me happy as it reminds me of my happy family.
